My immersion into the Daily Kos community has been rather slow and deliberate.  The insistent, gentle coercion of a friend led me to read the front page.  My interest in the front page led to an initially cursory - but then quickly compulsive interest in the diaries.  

Today, despite all my reservations about whether or not I'm capable of being impartial, entertaining and most importantly substantive, I'm writing anyway.  At last I've been compelled by purpose.
